Review: Tony Moly Tomatox Brightening Mask
I was excited to try this product from Tony Moly out after hearing great reviews from my friends, who were also using it. I have pretty dull skin and uneven skin tones, a brightening mask would do the trick!
So I proceed to get mine on Gmarket for $11. The usual price is $15, but my friend was lucky to catch a limited time offer. Anyhow, $15 is still cheaper than how much they are selling for in the new Tony Moly store in Singapore at $26.90.
Steps I did to apply the Tomatox Brightening Mask:
1. Wash face with usual facial wash (I’m now using NIVEA Visage Refreshing Cleansing Foam).
2. Do a simple patch test on the back of my palm. Always do a patch test for any new skin products you’re trying out so as to ensure that you’re not allergic to any of the components. You don’t want rashes or red patches to appear on your skin after use!
3. Felt a little tingling sensation on the back of my hand, but figured that it’s the mask mediating its effects. So it’s good to go!
4. Took a generous amount of the cream, and blobbed it onto my face, covering the entire face. *Avoid the eye area as it is too delicate.
5. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes.
6. Wipe the mask off with moist cotton pads.
7. Wash off any residual cream.

Comments:
I love how my skin feels after applying the mask. It feels so smooth and soft! I also saw a difference in skin colour, as my skin was brighter after application.
Note: You might want to expect slight itchiness when the mask is on. It is okay because it’s just Oxygen bubbles penetrating through your skin, and not due to an allergenic reaction. Once you’ve passed the patch test, it should be fine. I did experience some itchiness and coolness, but it didn’t cause much of a problem and ceased after removal of the cream.
However what I learnt was that while the effects were more visible than other brightening products, they only last for a day. I would definitely recommend using it the night or morning before an important event.
Or you could be like me, gonna use it twice a week! :) The promise of bright skin is too attractive to resist.

can you take a before and after picture? the sales clerk of one of their stores is not convincing.. thanks :)

For me, after applying, it brightened up my face instantly. But the effect only lasts for like a day. So it depends on what you’re looking for, this is good for an instant perk-me-up. If you’re looking for something like everyday brightening creams, this probably wouldn’t have a permanent effect. :)
Hello, chanced upon your entry. Actually for this old version of tomatox, massage and leave on maximum 5 mins. For the new version of tomatox, massage 1-2 mins then leave on maximum 10 mins. :)

Hi Sara, it does sting a little. But as long as your skin doesn’t feel like it’s burning, or overly itchy, it’s fine. Just do a patch test before using it on your face ok? :)
