Disney’s Lion King Musical in Singapore!

Thanks to Singtel/NCS and Hammy’s sister, I had the opportunity to watch Disney’s Lion King musical a few days ago at Marina Bay Sands Theatre! Was SO SO close to the stage as we took the Cat B seats, that’s not the only bizarre thing. The most crazy thing was that we only paid $40/ticket from the original $168/ticket!

I don’t know how to start describing the experience, cuz it was tooooooo AWESOME. I watched the cartoon version before and loved the story and teachings behind it. To see it come alive in 3D (without the 3D glasses), was too magnificent.

The animal puppets came alive under the control of professional theatricians, I cannot emphasize how ALIVE they were, until the audience forgot that they were humans on stage, and saw the puppets as animals in the cartoon show.

Trust me, take the aisle seats on the lower floor. You’ll be awed by the animals coming within inches of your fingertips when they strut down the aisle. You’ll be able to see their facial expressions while they belt out the starting number “Circle of Life”. I almost cried when they appeared because it was all too overwhelming! It was so beautiful.

Especially after you’ve watched the cartoon before, the musical will not let you down. Even though the script and scenes are the same as the cartoon show, the experience was very different as the puppets/set/theatre techniques used are so varied and amazing.

In fact, it brings your expectations out of the world until you’ll be speechless after the performance, because there are no words to describe it. We only knew we were damn happy after that, haha.

Get your tickets now! This can’t be missed.

This looks so cool! I’ve been to Broadway a few times but always downplayed Lion King to be just for kids… But this looks great, thank you for sharing :)

It was really really good! Unfortunately I can’t compare with any other broadway musicals as this is the first one I’ve been to. It’s a pretty rare thing to have such good musicals in Singapore as our arts scene isn’t as well developed yet. You’re so lucky to have been to broadway a few times! :)
