The Blogshop’s Clothes Buffet Review

Tried my hands at doing up a vlog for my loot from The Bloghop’s clothes buffet. I was so nervous and Youtube kept giving me problems so I used Vimeo instead! But at least Bearbear made a guest appearance to provide some comic relief. =) Haha

Vlog#1 – My loot from TBS clothes buffet

.

.

I forgot to mention my last accessory. It was a small green badge which was quite cute as well, it had a picture of a little girl seated on a branch of a tall tree. I don’t have it with me cuz I gave it to Mei when we met up after the event :)

.

.

Anyway, the whole experience was horrible, even though the clothes I got were quite nice. But I had to fish them out from ALOT of ugly clothes, clothes so obiang you won’t even buy them if they were $5-$10. And the clothes were all scattered on the floor, made us feel like beggars. :( First, the paper bag is so small, I couldn’t even fit a pair of shoes inside even if I wanted to get just a pair of shoes. So showing previews of nice heels/wedges are just for show. Shoes can’t fit in, much less to say bags and clutches.

.

.

The worst part is the way they treat their customers. Especially the woman (I later found out she’s Jacqueline Koh) standing at the shop’s entrance/exit, who was shouting at girls to get out and throwing out their clothes onto the floor cuz their bags were ‘too full’.

.

.

One of my tank tops got thrown out as well, even though I could fit it inside the puny paper bag. But just because of her judgment that ‘your bag is too full’, she flung clothes out without asking girls which clothes they want to keep more. A poor girl was so stunned that she asked, “You’re throwing my clothes out??” And she replied, “Yes! Because I need to staple the top of the bag and it’s too full!”

.

.

I pity the girls who got shouted at by her.

And it was only when we got there that we knew that if we tear the paper bag, we would be disqualified and have to pay another $30. I can’t believe The Blogshop was using such unscrupulous means to earn more money. I saw one girl who was pleading with the irritating woman at the exit (cuz she tore her bag), but the woman said unfeelingly, “No! She’s disqualified, and has to pay another $30! This shows that she was squeezing too many clothes!”

.

.

Oh god, good luck to this woman, who doesn’t even treat her customers with respect, humiliating them at any chance she has. Throwing out whatever clothes that they picked out so painstakingly onto the floor, and passing them back a lighter bag.

.

.

Everything was just so messy and ugly. Clothes strewn on the floor, girls scrambling everywhere to get hands on clothes which they don’t even want after picking them up. By the looks of it, The Blogshop was just using the opportunity of the ‘buffet’ to clear unwanted, out-of-fashioned clothes.

.

.

Plus she kept chasing people out because there was a very long queue. And some girls were shouted at to go out because their bags were full. But the issue is not that we don’t want to go out, but cuz there’s nothing to fill our bags with!! Of course girls have to stay longer to see if there’re any other better clothes right?? You really expect people to fill their bags with those rags you placed out?

.

.

A quick search on twitter showed that most girls had unpleasant experiences as well.

.

.

.

.

Haha I like the one which said, “Theblogshop should not create any ‘clothes buffet’ event. It’ll just ruin their reputation.” (which I think it really did ruin the impressions all girls had in their minds of what Theblogshop is like).

.

.

Although the stuff I got were worth more than $30, and quite pretty, the treatment alone was bad enough for me to really dislike Theblogshop’s management. Never will we customers want to be treated like trash right? We paid $30 for the buffet, it’s not like we were begging for clothes.

.

.

On another hand, I found out, albeit too late, that Victoria Jomo had a clothes buffet earlier on 4th June! And looking at the things that girls managed to get for $35, $55, and being treated like civilized customers, I don’t mind giving the concept another try, at Victoria Jomo of course! =)

  1. You’re so cute on your vlog…great job and I found this post so honest and endearing :) Loved the dresses you held up…pretty, especially the light blue one.

    1. Haha thank you :) My first attempt at vlogging, now I know how unnerving and stressful it is! But I felt very happy after publishing it.

Oh the light blue one was the ONLY piece in the store. I was super lucky to pick it up, from the floor :/ I really like it too! =)

  2. yeah treating people with respect is a very basic thing for me….whether I am a customer or employee or person being interviewed for a job. I don’t like abuse of power.

    1. Precisely… It’s very important to me too. Plus my mom always said when I was young, “Cannot be rude!” if I did something wrong. Haha…

  4. Omg, i’m actually planning to go to the buffet for the sep one but i came across your post & now i dunno if i shld go :(

    1. Hmm, you can always take the chance that they have tried to do some feedback surveys or actions to improve their buffets, but so far I haven’t heard of any done. I hope they are not clearing old stock again this time! For me, I know that I will never patronize them again, because it was that horrible.

      1. Wow you reply so fast :) Hmmm guess i shld tell my cousin abt it, btw you are really pretty! :)

      2. Haha thank you! :D

  5. Is The blog shop & exu boutique the same?

    1. Oh it’s not the same! I had a feeling you were talking abt the exu buffet instead of TBS’s cuz I didn’t hear tbs was gonna have a second one! Haha exu is in bugis village, and TBS is at haji lane. They are by different companies. I guess you can give it a try, there were many mixed reviews, some said it was good, some were dissatisfied. Actually for buffets it’s all based on luck and individual style! :)

      1. Haha i just realised they’re different shops too. I’ve read some comments & they said it’s quite good. Perhaps i shld give it a try :) Yeah i agree with the individual style. :)

      2. Good luck! Maybe you can come back and share if it was good! :D

  6. Haha thanks :) hope i will get some good stuff too!!

  9. Given your horrible experience at TheBlogShop, it’s not surprising that the shop and its branches are now closed, with creditors chasing them for the money owed. It was reported in the Straits Times yesterday that many tenants are angry and upset with TheBlogShop for owing them thousands of dollars and they have filed police reports against the owners. To think that the lady boss can afford so much money for her plastic surgeries but can’t afford to return the tenants their money???? Isn’t this ridiculous?

    1. Wah I didn’t expect TheBlogShop to close down, especially since Jacqueline Koh appears to be doing quite well with spending so much money on plastic surgeries! There isn’t much news on it though, only some insider information. I wonder if it’s a false front that they are putting up, but apparently all the blame is on Clarence Chew.
