Post-exam celebration.
What marks the end of exams, other than the fact that we don’t have to face the books anymore? The decision to do something like dumping our notes into the recycle bin was something to we did to declare our freedom and look forward to days of fun ahead! I can’t believe I dropped my notes into the recycling bin too, the moment I did it I was feeling a little regretful and sad for them. I must have been out of my mind! They were my hard-earned notes, with my handwriting and understanding of the theories and concepts. OKAY, I admit that one of the reasons was a practical one, being that the stack of notes was so heavy in my bag, I couldn’t possibly lug them around for the rest of the day when my friends and I had already planned lunch and a movie in town!
Zah brought Para, Alvin and I to Cafe le Claire in Arab Street, a restaurant specializing in Middle Eastern cuisine and pastries. Zah was the one who was familiar with the place and even treated us like tourists by saying, “Welcome to Arab Street!” when we got there. It’s just so her to be a great host. Haha
When we got there, the waitress asked if we wanted to sit at the smoking area or non-smoking area. Zah replied smoking area and shocked us, because non of us were smokers! But then we realized that the smoking area is where customers smoke Shisha (a flavoured tobacco blend), and there were cushions and carpets for comfort. Look at how relaxed we were.
Lucky the place was empty when we were there, because we didn’t go there to smoke, but just to sit around and chill!

This is the instrument that people use to smoke shisha. Shisha originated from Egypt and has caught up with the culture here, although it has comparable harmful effects as cigarette smoking!
(FAVA BEANS! Those who took I think it was Neurology will remember that some people cannot eat fava beans due to a lack of G6PD enzyme.) Okay random bio fact.
Our yummy food! Good recommendation from Zah because the food didn’t let us down, the portion was big, and tasted great! It was my first time having authentic Middle Eastern food, and I liked it.
This is the non-smoking area, looking very classy and the room had a very floral nice smell when we sneaked in to explore a bit. The whole restaurant was very big, but there were no customers so I guess they probably get busier at night.
Cafe Le Claire is at 39 Arab Street.

Then after that we met up with Yeewei to catch ‘You’re the Apple of my Eye’, <那些年,我们一起追的女孩> at Marina Sq. It was a pretty heart-wrenching show, as the story unfolds. Especially when it gets to the end and the truth just hits you hard. Not a show to be missed, although I didn’t really fancy the nudity and references to masturbation. BUT I think guys will like it and truly understand it. Haha during the show, the audience burst out laughing at funny scenes and males were the ones who laughed the loudest.
SPOILER ALERT. I’m going to discuss the movie below, pls skip if you don’t wanna know!

I have learnt quite a bit from the show, probably the essence of the show is that, when you truly love someone, and he/she’s found the right person in life, you can be happy too, knowing the fact that he/she’s being loved. Many friends I’ve spoken to cried when the story unfolded, because the main characters don’t end up together in the end. But when I understood the meaning of the entire story, I didn’t feel that it was sad. Sure, it was heartbreaking perhaps, but at a deeper level, that’s how love works sometimes.

I had such a great day with my friends, walking around in Marina Square, window shopping, walked to Raffles City to get Gong Cha before the movie. We joked, laughed, not having a care in the world, or whether we were being too loud or not. For that matter, I did feel we were talking at the top of our voices sometimes, but why not? We were truly enjoying each other’s company :)

looks sooo cosy :)
Yep, feels just like home! There’s a TV set too. haha
