Porn’s.

Going to Porn’s was an impromptu decision, as hammy and I were at Bugis Liang Seah Street to help his sister choose wedding photos at a bridal shop there. The process was taking a little longer than expected, and it became apparent that the staff at the bridal shop was trying to milk the couple as much as they can by carelessly explaining details of the photo album and how many photos they must purchase to fill it up. It almost ended up in a brawl between the ‘album designer’ and hammy due to a (deliberate) mis-communication on their part. Furthermore, the quality of the edited photos was horrendous that we all initially thought they were unfinished.

Therefore, what I’m trying to say is, don’t go to Bridal Concept on Liang Seah Street. They were totally unprofessional, and to think that the lady boss appeared to be uninterested when she was serving us, and even came to raise her voice at us on several occasions while there was a misunderstanding going on. Sheesh. Thank god the pretty bride and handsome groom made the photos look good despite the lousy cameraman.

Hence, to avoid further unhappiness, hammy and I stepped outside and looked for a place to have dinner, and left his sis and fiance to deal with them. So it was local celebrity’s, Pornsak’s Thai restaurant we settled on, cuz the others were mostly hotpots and barbequed food.

 

We were sitting inside the restaurant initially, but the aircon was blasting and it was a cool night, so we requested to shift to the tables along the corridor.

We ordered their specialties, Pineapple Fried Rice, Green Curry and Stir-fried Minced Pork with basil leaves. The portions were enough for the two of us.

I felt that the Pineapple Fried rice was a little dry, but the green curry was awesome and full of taste. That’s a must-try. Their stir-fried minced pork with basil leaves was so spicy! So remember to request for less less spicy if you can’t handle it.

Porn’s has a very polite and sweet Thai lady at shopfront who greets every person who walks past the restaurant. And she would try her best to accommodate customers, as I observed her allowing a couple next to us buy beer from a bar nearby and even acceding to their request to chill them in their refrigerator. Most importantly, she always had a smile on her face. I think the experience at Porn’s wasn’t 100% fantastic Thai food (it was good nonetheless), but the immaculate service and warmth provided by this Thai staff. Thumbs up!
