A trip to the Singapore Zoo – Part I
Yay!! I love the Singapore Zoo, which is home to more than 315 species of animals from all over the world. I love seeing the animals in all their splendour, housed in spaces that are painstakingly designed to be as close to their natural habitat as possible. I love to see how they move among the bushes/trees, or even how they laze in the afternoon heat. So this trip to the zoo was really a great escape!
Needless to say, we took MANY photos such that I will have to break this ‘Zoo post’ into a few parts. Enjoy and stay tuned~ :D
I wore this top cuz I wanted to blend into the natural surroundings, which I think I did!! Especially to this Zoo-themed painted elephant art piece. Another reason was because I always thought this top’s print looked like a snake pattern, and how apt for me to dress up as a snake in a zoo trip (cuz it’s my zodiac). Haha over-active imagination.
There was a very long queue at the ticketing counter, BUT Hammy and I had bought the tickets from a Deal website to save about 30% off the price and the printed vouchers acted as the tickets, so we zoomed past all those sweaty, sun-burned tourists and entered the premises with a huge grin on our faces. :P
We had brunch at the Ah Meng’s Cafe. Chicken porridge and laksa. The porridge was a little bland, but the laksa was quite a delight! Thought food at these touristy places wouldn’t be as authentic to suit foreign taste buds, but I was wrong. Price wise, we spent about $11 for such common fare.
The moment we entered the premises, we were greeted by this cute little squirrel on its play log. It was simply above our heads, so close that visitors could reach up and touch the little creature, but I doubt they dare to and it would definitely scamper away! It was nevertheless nice to see it up close.
A proboscis monkey having its afternoon snack.
A toucan! I never knew it was so huge, so it’s really splendid to see it right before me.
What’s behind me?
A white tiger!
There were no cages, and the tigers were just far away from the visitors, separated by a pretty deep moat.
Colourful fishies.
A cute pig-nosed turtle. I can’t describe how graceful it was gliding underwater, the closest would be to say that it was flying.
These fishes were really long and huge! You can really tell when I’m in the photo for size comparison.
Natural goggles.
This was a really gigantic catfish as well, and that’s my hand.
Smelly hippo!!
More big fishes with the smelly hippo.
It was a really hot day and we must drink up!
(I really like my top)
