Charlene sis’ wedding 12022012. <3

Last weekend was a fun and blissful one as Hammy’s sister got married! It was also my first time being a bridesmaid and I certainly had a crazy time stopping the groom and his ‘brothers’ at the door and making them drink our deadly concoctions. We even gave them a waxing service on the shin! Wahaha, all the things men do to get their women. ;P

The pureed concoctions comprised of the following:

- Sour: Lemon and lime juice with Lemon bits

- Sweet: Dried plum and pomegranate vinegar (surprised? We’d intended this combination to be sour, but it turned out to be sweet instead!)

- Bitter: Beer stout with raw egg (Potent. Woohoo!)

- Spicy: Chilli padi and tobasco (This was a killer)

Surprisingly, we did not face much resistance from the guys as they drank up willingly, although it was funny to watch their expressions and cries for god. Haha One ‘brother’ was so cheeky that he asked for more waxing! Of course we gave it!

Unfortunately I was so busy running around and settling stuff for the bride that I didn’t manage to take any photos at all! Plus I only had 1 hour of sleep the night before, so I didn’t have that much energy to do so. Just let the wedding photographers and videographer do the job! But this was what I wore for the morning events; a blue dress bought from Max Diva at Orchard Central. Resembles CHIJ’s blue pinafore, doesn’t it?

Then after the tea ceremony, it was time to prepare for the wedding dinner at Hilton Singapore. I didn’t have time to visit a salon to style my hair (I spent 2 hours snoozing), and I don’t know how to do it myself, so I looked pretty plain that night. But I absolutely heart my dress! Laced Cheongsam in teal from a local blogshop. I adore blogshops that provide XS size for petite girls. They are a god-send.

In the hotel executive suite. Hehe couldn’t resist the full length mirrors.

Ashlyn, Hammy’s cousin, who was my bridesmaid-in-crime.

I really like this photo of us, although Hammy looked really tired after modelling and animating a 3D-animated photo montage for his sis and bro-in-law. I would say, good job dear! <3

‘nudge nudge’ Eh take photo alr!

He’s all suited up! :)

The pretty bride taking a break after the dinner. Being the couple of the night is not an easy task! You need to stand the entire night, walk around, entertain guests, drink, laugh, smile till your cheeks are stiff, and still try your best to look perky and pretty. I know she probably only had 3 hours of sleep the night before, but see, still looking good and smiling even when she’s resting :) haha

With Hammy’s grandma, I adore her cheeky smile!

Yay! A photo with the bride. I’m so happy for you, Charlene sis! Wishing you happiness and love in your marriage, and have a couple of children soon! Hehe (Hammy: The house feels so empty and quiet without you!!!) <—- He’s really sad! Hope we’ll be able to hang out and have meals often ok! HUGS. X x miss uou.

I want a snowfall kind of love.

We can’t have snow in Singapore, but we can look at pretty, snowy things and feel all warm and fuzzy inside =). Don’t ask me why, but I’m just feeling very very ‘snowy’ tonight. I’ve never felt real snow (only the bubble foam ones), but I definitely want to have the experience of playing in the snow, building snowmen, having snow fights. Oh, and the chance to doll up in pretty winter coats, scarves, gloves and boots.

When I listen to this song, I imagine that I’m in a city, with my love. It’s night time, the streetlights are dim. The snow is falling, we’re in our coats and boots, holding hands walking down the snow-covered walkway. Cars go by, everyone goes on in their business, shopping, rushing home whatever, we don’t care. In this world, it’s only us. We stop in front of a building (I don’t know what building cuz it’s blurred in my mind lol), and kiss. I never want this moment to end.

But, it’s all in my head.

Happiness is in my heart

Attended Hammy’s cousin’s wedding last Saturday and this is the only photo we had together. Makes it more precious :) I think weddings and special occasions are the only times I get to see him in shirt and pants cuz he dislikes dressing up. He prefers to live a simple life and do not desire to go shopping AT ALL (although he’ll buy iphone game apps secretly). Haha the only shopping he enjoys is at grocery shopping at Cold Storage (it’s his therapy). He always reminds me not to spend more than I can afford.

Being with him has brought so much balance to my life, in the sense that he adds joy and laughter to my daily life and supports me when times are hard. He is also grounded, while I can be floating in the skies sometimes. He’s far-sighted, while I can be quite ‘in the moment’. I’ve learnt a lot, and am still learning from how he deal with things and people in life. Thank you dear.

How to make a porridge for a cold night.

Ingredients:

- 1 packet of Instant porridge (Duck flavour)

- a handful of Wolfberries to your liking

- few pieces of sliced ginger

- 1 egg

- Sauteed garlic in olive oil (separate and optional but it really adds the oomph)

Instructions:

1. Boil a pot of water, following the instructions on the packet of instant porridge.

2. Pour the grains in, stir and add in the ginger slices and wolfberries.

3. Stir and keep stirring until the grains plump up. That’ll take about 15 mins.

4. Crack an egg, beat it a little, stir the porridge while adding it in. That’ll form the egg swirls.

5. Saute some garlic in olive oil till fragrant, but don’t overcook it. Transfer the garlic with oil into a small bowl/saucer.

6. Scoop a little garlic with olive oil and ginger slices and place in the middle of the porridge. Done!

This porridge came about when I was really feeling the chills from a cold and windy night. It rained and the marble floor was freezing, everything was cold to the touch even without air-conditioning. Okay I might be exaggerating a little, but you know how it feels. So Hammy was being ever so sweet and decided to cook me a bowl of porridge to chase away the chills! The ginger, garlic and love did the job.
