SaSa SkinLite Mineral and Mango Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask Review

A few weeks ago, Sasa was having a beauty fair at the atrium of Northpoint and I got these masks for $1 each! Gonna split the review posts into two parts, since I can’t finish so many masks so quickly. And one packet actually last me a few applications instead of just one. Lol… later show you guys a trick that I use to keep the products that I cannot finish at one go.

Sasa affordable mud masks

This post is going to be on SkinLite’s Purifying Dead Sea Mud Masks, which I got in Mango and Mineral ‘flavours’? Lol.

From the many masks on sale that day, I chose a dead sea mud mask because my skin needed some detoxification, and dead sea mud masks are known for their purifying properties. My pores were getting quite cloggy due to lack of proper rest, make up etc… The usual exfoliation didn’t quite clean the pores and uproot comedones as thoroughly as I would like.

The SkinLite mask packs come in 2 separate portions, meant for 2 treatments. So you cut along the middle line. Both essentially contain dead sea salt, just with slightly different ingredients. The mango one contains Mango, Orange, Aloe and Lemon, while the Mineral one contains Lemon, Orange, Bilberry and Mineral (coral) water.

The mud mask deeply cleanses and purifies tired skin by draining impurities from within, leaving skin more radiant and fresh (which is what I totally needed!).

Swatch of the two masks.

I like to pop my masks in the refrigerator, so when I want to use them, I get a cooling and refreshing mask. It really perks my tired skin up! If you haven’t been keeping your masks in the fridge, you should do so immediately and feel the difference.

Okay I made this photo really small cuz I didn’t want to scare anyone. Hahaha.

Review:

It is super value for money. I had so much leftover from one application that I could stretch the portion from one treatment to three! Haha and since one treatment is 50cents, 50/3=16.667cents. Hahah one treatment for me was less than 20cents. Zzz I calculate to make myself feel happy.

tip for storing unfinished beauty samples

Here’s a tip: I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me earlier, but I realised that I could store my unfinished mask into my old contact lens cases. I have so many of them!! Chuck it back in the fridge, and the mask would still be moist and cold for the subsequent applications.

The mud mask tightens up my pores. As the mud mask dries up, I could feel the tightening of the mask. After that, my pores really did appear smaller! My skin was smoother as a result. No kidding! So that’s why I say that this mask is super worth it for a quick pick-me-up.

I use it once a week, after exfoliation and cleansing, to allow pores to open up and impurities easier to be extracted. So far I am really liking the results. What a steal at just $1 for two treatments and more! Haha. I suppose when Sasa is not having sale, it’s a little pricier, but I don’t think it’s alot more. Cheap and affordable!

Which do I prefer?

I actually liked the Mineral one more because of its refreshing smell. I felt that it was ‘cooler’ than the Mango mask and I liked the blue colour more than orange. HAHA okay this part is entirely personal preference, please don’t quote me.

Yup hope my review helped!

Post-flea review & thoughts.

Beary naise first flea market booth singapore pandora dempsey

Last Sunday, Beary Naise held its first flea at Pandora Flea market at Dempsey. To be honest, it was not easy being a total greenhorn, planted amidst all the regular flea -goers. My table was ill-prepared, I arrived late, my table cloth was not long enough (hahaha this was an honest mistake because I was initially given a smaller table dimension), and I was very nervous. My first potential customer asked me how much was the Strawberry Bucket Bag, and my heart was beating so fast that I couldn’t remember. Bleah, I resorted to jotting the prices down on my palm next. So cliche!

To make matters more intimidating, my neighbouring flea-owners had very prettily decorated booths. This, I have a lot to learn from. My first flea experience was not about myself nor was it about my products, it was about observance, and the feeling of just being in it, with everything happening around me. It was surreal, being in an actual flea market, and not the one shopping. Observing how other flea-owners interact with potential customers, interact with each other etc… Observing how some people are potential customers, and how some just want to suss out your products to see if they could make it themselves too. For the handmade flea market scene (not those of clothes), you have to be prepared for people who are DIY-ers or crafters themselves, and who will judge. For that, I really have to up my technical and design skills.

The first step you take is the longest stride. – Author Unknown

Looking back, there are a hell lot of things that I could have done better. But I’m very grateful for this opportunity given by my aunt, and people who were there to support me. My sister, who woke up early to lend a helping hand in setting up the booth, and provide entertainment relief. Haha. Hammy’s mom, who fussed with me about the table cloth the night before, and loaned me small change so I didn’t have to break my bank. Hammy, who drove me to the venue in the morning, then joined his family for mothers’ day lunch, then came back with his mom and cousin, Ashlyn, to pay me a visit. Then he drove his mom back, got me lunch, and then stayed till the end of the flea. Ashlyn, who came with Hammy and stayed to accompany me. And many others, who wished they could come pay me a visit, but had work (yes, mei hung) or simply because Dempsey was too out of the way. Thank you all. They say the first step is always the hardest, but my first step was a result of so many people’s support and well-wishes. Tears are welling up as I write this, but I am really thankful for everyone’s help.

After my first experience at flea, I am more mentally prepared for my next. There is much work to do, and it’s a continuous journey. Do I have the tenacity to keep going, and resources to keep myself afloat…?

He dares to be a fool, and that is the first step in the direction of wisdom. – James Huneker

I really hope the quote is right, and that I am a fool now, but heading for greater plans. Because even as I try to convince myself that this is what I want to do, and that one day I will succeed, there are people who look at me as though I am crazy, immature, lazy, irresponsible, good-for-nothing, and the list goes on. Sometimes they get to me, but more often, I’m determined to prove them wrong. I just hope time is on my side.

Love, Zoe

Hada Labo Whitening Lotion (New Nano Formula) Review + Free Sample Redemption for you!

[Sponsored Review] Read on to find out how to redeem a 20ml travel sized bottle of the Hada Labo Whitening Lotion!

I’m pretty sure Hada Labo is no stranger to many girls. Its PERFECT x SIMPLE philosophy has worked its way to many hearts because unnecessary ingredients such as colorants, fragrance and mineral oil that will burden the skin are omitted, and only the best are used to ensure maximum efficacy.

Hada Labo Whitening Lotion new nano formula review

Just one step promises to give you 1) Natural fairness, 2) Super hydration, and 3) A bright glow. I use it after washing my face using Hada Labo’s Exfoliating Fash Wash Foam, and Nivea’s Refreshing Toner.

Its ingredients include natural bearberry (arbutin) that helps to fade brown spots and blemishes. resulting in a more even-toned skin. Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, which will be converted to Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) by skin enzymes. Vitamin C is an important anti-oxidant and co-factor in the process of collagen synthesis. Then finally, Hyaluronic acid intensely hydrates, keeping skin soft and supple.

hada labo whitening lotion new nano formula review

I’m a great fan of Hada Labo Whitening Lotion, and it’s not without reason.

Firstly, I like it for its lightweight and non-sticky texture. These two qualities are very important especially in our humid weather. If my moisturisers or lotion were any thicker and creamier, it would somehow cause my skin to produce more oil because it just can’t handle it. This also depends on how easily it is absorbed by the skin, which brings me to the next point.

It is quickly and easily absorbed. I usually drip a few drops onto my palm, into something like a 20cent coin. Together with the other palm, I spread on my face evenly. Then with a slight patting motion, I pat my cheeks, chin, forehead etc.. The lotion is very easily absorbed. In fact, it feels like water.

Lastly, it brightens up my skin. After using the Hada Labo Whitening Lotion from the whitening range for more than half a year, I can say that it really helps to maintain my skin’s radiance and translucency. Which is why I have continued to use it! :)

Here’s how you can try and decide for yourself!

Mentholatum Deep Moist – Natural Review

[Sponsored Review]

I was sent Mentholatum’s Deep Moist Lip Balm for reviewing and was pretty glad, because I can never complain of having too many lip balms. Whenever I get a new lip balm, it would somehow mysteriously drop into the abyss of my bags and disappear for a month or two, and then miraculously re-appear again. So during such disappearing acts, it’s always good to have another lip balm that might pop up and then they can take turns to go missing and I’d still have lip balms to use. Haha

Mentholatum Deep Moist lip balm review

Mentholatum Deep Moist was launched in Japan in 2008, and became the top selling lip balm within the year mainly due to its affordable price and interesting shape. For $7.90, this lip balm contains Hyaluronic Acid, Avocado Oil, and Jojoba Oil. It also claims to repair dry lips with Shea Butter and Vitamin E.

As for its interesting shape, it is ergonomically shaped in an oval stick to enable easy application in a single swipe. Oval fits the corners of the lips well, and also prevents lip balm from getting onto your teeth. Yikes!

Mentholatum Deep Moist lip balm review

It’s my first time using an oval-shaped lip balm and I do agree that it allowed me to reach the corners of my lips better. However, the stick was a little harder than expected, and the formula took more effort to rub off onto my lips. And when it did, it caked off a little and a few pieces of lip balm ended up on my lips and I had to blend it manually. It is different from those creamy types that ooze out from a small opening. After application, the lip balm was virtually non-existent. In a good way though. It didn’t feel like I had anything on my lips.

Great for guys~

The formula is light and non-sticky. It also doesn’t contain any smell. The deep royal blue tube design is also plus point that might encourage guys to start using lipbalms too. What do you think?

Mentholatum Deep Moist is available at Watson’s for $7.90.

Just one more day to our flea debut!

I’m on my way home, traveling, which is why I have time to blog a short update on my preparations for the flea market. :) Been a busy day, went Bras Basah to print name cards for Bearynaise in the afternoon.

20130511-003311.jpgSnapped this photo of Bugis+. What a beautiful day!
After that was done, which was really quick, just about 20mins for 100 cards, we ate, came back and started making more pouches.
This time I made a small clutch purse to put your what-nots when you’re out for a quick meal etc.. Just some cash, tissue paper, phone and you’re ready to conquer long queues at eateries. Lol.

20130511-010500.jpgBtw if you’ve been following my Bearynaise Fashion Bags Project, you’ll see that most of my items for first collection are mostly made with floral fabric, particularly shabby roses. I think it comes from my crush on roses and I just love how they look on the fabrics. Roses are seductive, yet armed with thorns.. Sexy.

Alright I have to get back to making handmade decorative items for the flea booth! Excited.

If you’re wondering where I’m flea-ing, read the previous post. :)

Xoxo.
